The new partnership between the United Jewish Appeal, the Council of Jewish Federations and the United Israel Appeal will be owned by local Jewish federations, with the participation of other national organizations. That was the decision reached this week when 150 national Jewish leaders convened in Chicago to plan a full merger of the community’s central fund-raising institutions. No details of governance were decided for the newly merged entity, which is expected to become official by early next year.
