The Knesset approved a bill to hold new elections by a vote of 81-30 with four abstentions. The Labor-sponsored bill faces two more votes, which could happen as early as next week. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicated that he does not intend to block its passage. By a vote of 56-48, the Knesset also rejected the premier’s stance on the Wye agreement, which calls on the Palestinian Authority to fulfill five conditions before Israel resumes implementation of the accord.
