Selling coffee and spirituality

NEW YORK, Feb. 26 (JTA) — How about some Jewish spirituality with that latte? This spring, Rabbi Lawrence Kushner’s book “Invisible Lines of Connection: Sacred Stories of the Ordinary” will be one of a handful of volumes for sale at Starbucks Coffee stores. Some 400 of the close to 1,000 Starbucks outlets throughout the country will be carrying the book by Kushner, which draws on inspirational stories of spirituality in everyday life. “We’re delighted that we’re going to have Kushner’s book in a setting where people go even if they don’t go to synagogues,” said Stuart Matlins, publisher of Jewish Lights Publishing, which put out Kushner’s book. Kushner, who has written several other books on Jewish spirituality, is a Reform rabbi at Congregation Beth-El in Sudbury, Mass.
