Israeli Prime Minister-elect Ehud Barak is planning a series of meetings with the Shas Party to discuss its participation in his government. Barak called for the meetings Wednesday after the Council of Torah Sages, the fervently Orthodox rabbinic leaders of Shas, accepted the resignation of the party’s political leader, Aryeh Deri. Barak now has three weeks to form a coalition and present his government to the Knesset.
