A $500,000 Israeli governmental allocation to improve the Western Wall prayer plaza in Jerusalem could be blocked until an area for Reform and Conservative services is officially designated. The issue is slated to be discussed Monday at a meeting of the Israeli parliamentary finance committee. Conservative and Reform leaders are supporting attempts to block the financing, even though Rabbi Ehud Bandel, president of the Conservative movement in Israel, has praised the “sincere attempts” by the Israeli government to find a solution to the problem.
