Several multinational corporations, including Pepsi-Cola and Nestle, signed agreements to lease buildings in a planned industrial zone in the Gaza Strip. Created in the 1998 Wye peace accord, the Gaza zone is slated for completion in August 2001 and is expected to employ 50,000 workers.
