The founder and dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center was scheduled to discuss the importance of tolerance and combating hate in his remarks to the Republican National Convention. The invitation to Marvin Hier to speak in Philadelphia came after Republican presidential candidate Gov. George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, visited the center’s Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles earlier this year.
