The president of the American Jewish Congress sent a letter to President Bush urging him to use his “bully pulpit” to heighten pressure on Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat to end the violence. Jack Rosen also asked Bush to take action against the Palestinian Authority, including cutting off financial assistance to Palestinian-controlled areas, if the administration determines that Arafat is not acting to stop violence.
