The Center for Jewish Studies at UCLA received a $500,000 challenge grant for the study of Jewish civilization from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The “challenge” in the grant calls for the 7-year-old center to raise $2 million in private donations over the next four years to reach the goal of a $2.5 million endowment.
