Japanese and Lithuanian officials are planning to begin planting 250 cherry trees in Lithuania’s capital next month in memory of the man known as “Japan’s Schindler.” About 500 people are expected to attend an Oct. 2 ceremony in Vilnius to plant trees to remember Chiune Sugihara, who during World War II saved more than 6,000 Jews by issuing them transit visas to Japan.
