U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld called on Israel not to retaliate if attacked by Iraq. In congressional testimony last week, Rumsfeld said it would be in Israel’s interest not to get involved in the anticipated U.S. war on Iraq, even if Iraqi President Saddam Hussein launches missiles at the Jewish state.
