A U.S. cultural institution released a compact disk of music from a group of Ugandan Jews. “Abayudaya: Music From the Jewish People of Uganda,” released by Smithsonian Folkways, features tunes from the Abayudaya community that mixes African rhythms and harmonies with traditional Hebrew chants. More information about the CD, compiled by Jeffrey Summit, a Tufts University professor and Hillel director, is available at www.folkways.si.edu.
