Five Israelis drowned at beaches abandoned by lifeguards on strike. At an Ashkelon beach popular with surfers, three men in their early 20s succumbed to choppy waves, and all efforts to revive them failed, emergency services said Tuesday. Two men in their 60s died in separate incidents, one in Bat Yam and another in the Dead Sea.
