A Likud Party delegation will visit South Africa for the first time in the post-apartheid era. The delegation will depart Tuesday. The African National Congress, which came to power in 1994, historically has maintained close ties with the PLO and backs the Palestinians in international arenas. The Israeli delegation’s leader, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Michael Ratzon, said the trip reflects South Africa’s desire to initiate a dialogue with Israel’s government.
