Iran claimed that it had uncovered a ring of spies working for Israel. A spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry said Sunday that the Islamic Republic had discovered an eight-person cell working on behalf of the Jewish state. The group of alleged spies included no Jews, according to the Los Angeles-based Iranian Jewish Public Affairs Committee. Malcolm Hoenlein, executive vice chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, said it was not yet clear if the statement from the ministry was referring to a new spying case, or to a previous one.
