Ariel Sharon pledged to assist Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in advancing the peace process. “We are willing to help Chairman Abbas as much as we can, as long as we do not risk our security,” the Israeli prime minister said Tuesday to thunderous applause on the final day of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s policy conference.
