A Hamas leader rejected President Bush’s conditions for a relationship. “These demands are unjust to the Palestinian people,” Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the Hamas slate that won a landslide in last week’s legislative elections, said in an interview Wednesday with Reuters. In his State of the Union address Tuesday, Bush said Hamas “must recognize Israel, disarm, reject terrorism, and work for lasting peace.”
