Dutch buy back looted art

The Netherlands bought back Nazi-looted art that it had returned to a Holocaust victim’s heirs. The Dutch state agreed in 2006 to return more than 200 paintings
worth tens of millions of dollars to the heirs of art dealer
Jacques Goudstikker, who fled the Netherlands shortly before the German
invasion in 1940. He left behind his collection of some 1,300 works, which was looted by the Nazis.The Culture Ministry is buying four paintings for some $4.3 million. The heirs are giving the state a fifth painting – Bartholomeus van der Helst’s 1645 “Child on deathbed.”
