The Palestinian Authority said it had talked Gazan terrorist groups into ending their rocket salvoes against Israel. Nabil Amr, an aide to P.A. President Mahmoud Abbas, said Wednesday that Abbas has been negotiating with Gazan rocketeers. “He has reached a real agreement with all forces that occasionally fire rockets,” Amr told Reuters. Previous such claims have proven false or limited. Among the terrorist groups firing rockets is Islamic Jihad, which rejects a putative cease-fire declared by other Palestinian terrorist groups in Gaza. Israel has long argued that Hamas, which runs the P.A. government, continues to supply covert help to the rocket crews.
