Muslim groups asked to be removed as unindicted co-conspirators in the U.S. case against the Holy Land Foundation.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations asked a Dallas judge to remove its name and the name of other groups and individuals from the case against the foundation, a U.S. charity charged with funding Palestinian terrorist groups.
Prosecutors this week asked Judge Joe Fish to reject the request, the New York Sun reported, although the government’s decision to name the unindicted co-conspirators in the first place was unusual; such names are almost always suppressed.
Prosecutors said naming CAIR and the other groups was legitimate because the groups had in the past been associated with networks that promoted Hamas.
