Two airliners nearly collided over Ben-Gurion International airport.

Initial inquiries suggest an air traffic controller was responsible for the near-miss Friday morning, authorities told Israel’s daily Ha’aretz.

The controller apparently gave an Israir Airlines jet permission to land without accounting for a Turkish Airlines jet that already was approaching at an unsafe distance.
