Assad: Talks must pick up where they left off

Syria’s president said peace talks with Israel must pick up where they left off in 1995.

In an interview with an Indian newspaper on Friday, Bashar Assad said that 80 percent of issues between Syria and Israel had been agreed in prior rounds of peace talks, the Jerusalem Post reported.

Assad also said Israel had not asked it to cut its ties to Iran or Hamas. He said Israel’s bombing of a supposed nuclear site last September was an example of trickery that demonstrated that the Jewish state isn’t serious about peace.
