Three Injured in Kassam Attack

A Kassam rocket that struck the parking lot of a shopping center in Sderot, injuring three, was one of at least 24 to hit Israel in one day.

Hundreds of shoppers were in the area when the rocket exploded Wednesday afternoon. The explosing caused serious damage to a supermarket and cars.

It was one of at least 14 rockets fired from the Gaza Strip that landed in southern Israel on Wednesday afternoon and evening, less than 48 hours before a truce between Israel and the terrorist organization Hamas is set to expire. At least 10 Kassam rockets were fired on southern Israel that morning.

Those attacks, including one near a factory in Ashkelon’s industrial zone that sent workers to the hospital with ringing in their ears, follow on the heels of nine rockets that landed in Israel the previous day. In one of Tuesday’s attacks, a boy suffering from shock was hospitalized.

Israel’s army struck at least three rocket launchers ready to launch Kassams in northern Gaza Wednesday.

The shaky truce between Israel and the terrorist group Hamas, which controls Gaza, is set to expire Friday. Egyptian negotiators are working with both sides to renew the truce.
