The United Jewish Communities, the umbrella organization of the Jewish federation system, will be blacking out its Web site Tuesday, in honor of Israel’s Memorial Day.
The homepage at ujc.org will redirect to a black screen with the words “Two minutes of silence in commemoration of Yom Hazikaron, because words cannot express our gratitude.”
With the click of a button, a two minute timer will count down, counting off two minutes of silence in honor of those who have died in Israel’s wars.
At the end of two minutes, the page will redirect to a 30-second Yom Hazikaron video.
Visitors can then go to a page where they can make donations to help Israel’s victims of war and terror.
Eleven individual federations will also have similar blackout pages on their Web sites.
