WASHINGTON (JTA) — A Northern Virginia rabbi has been named the first director of public policy for the Rabbinical Assembly.
Rabbi Jack Moline, spiritual leader of Agudath Achim Congregation in Alexandria, Va., said the position is an extension of the political activism he has been engaged in for the past 25 years as an individual. He said the "part-time, volunteer" position is "open-ended" while he gets the office off the ground until it evolves into "something that can sustain itself."
While the Reform and Orthodox movements have had public policy offices in D.C. for a while, the Conservative movement has never had an equivalent operation in the nation’s capital.
