WASHINGTON (JTA) — French President Nicolas Sarkozy said a unilateral Israeli attack on Iran would be "an absolute catastrophe."
"Israel should know that it is not alone and should follow what is going on calmly," Sarkozy told reporters at the annual G-8 summit in L’Aquila, Italy, on Thursday, according to Reuters.
Sarkozy added that if Iran refused to talk with the West about its nuclear program, additional sanctions should be expected.
"For the past six years we have extended our hand saying stop your nuclear armament program," he said. "Do they want discussions or don’t they want them? If they don’t, there will be sanctions."
