Jewish Hollywood Legend Ed Asner was hospitalized last night after having trouble speaking during a performance in Indiana.
The 83-year-old actor is best known for playing the character Lou Grant in the 1970’s sitcom, “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” who then went on to star in his own spin-off series, Lou Grant. He also won the hearts of audiences everywhere after providing the voice of Carl Fredricksen from the Oscar-winning 2009 Pixar film, “Up” (sorry, there is something in my eye.)
Asner has been performing a one-man show for the past three years, impersonating President Franklin Delano Roosevelt from the play, “FDR.” Audiences told the Chicago Sun times he started the show 45 minutes late, and struggled to speak during the performance before walking off stage early.
Asner’s publicist confirmed he was rushed to a Chicago hospital, where he is “resting comfortably.”
