(JTA) — Israeli troops shot and killed a Palestinian man who fired at them.
The shooting took place Friday morning in the Jordan Valley in the West Bank, at the Hamra checkpoint, 12 miles east of Nablus, the website news.walla.co.il reported.
The Palestinian man drove up to a group of reserves soldier serving at the checkpoint and began firing at them, the spokesperson unit of Israel Defense Forces wrote on Twitter. The soldiers, who were not injured, fired back at the shooter, who was hit, the report said.
Neither report said what weapon the Palestinian, who was not named, had fired. The IDF is investigating his vehicle and the man’s identity, as well as the circumstances that led to the shooting.
Last week, one Israeli hiker died and another was injured in a shooting attack in the West Bank by a Palestinian.
