In Gary Rosenblatt’s Feb. 12 piece “Poles Apart on Trump,” he makes the following statement about the Zionist Organization of America:
“Fellow members of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations are known to roll their eyes when Klein gets up to challenge guest U.S. officials or other dignitaries with sharp questions about Mideast policy.”
I’ve been CAMERA’s delegate to the Conference for nearly 20 years, and I think it is necessary to point out that Mort Klein and the ZOA have consistently been highly-respected members of the Conference. Mr. Klein often asks questions from the microphone, and his questions are always concise, precise and helpful.
When Jim Tisch handed over the gavel as Chairman of the Conference to Harold Tanner, Jim told Harold to “always make sure that Mort has a place at the microphone,” because Mr. Klein’s contribution to the conversation is so important.
I have never seen any of the Conference leadership “rolling their eyes” when Mr. Klein speaks.
