I have been saying this for many years: Kids, especially boys, need healthy creative outlets. Punishing yeshiva schedules with no time for anything else doesn’t help kids feel less pressured.
When the community realizes that kids need creative and athletic outlets, [which] are just as important and, as a matter of fact, help kids be successful in learning and observing the mitzvoth, then maybe a generation of kids will be spared the lure of substance abuse.
