The 1966 campaign of the United Jewish Appeal of Greater Washington, aiming for a goal of $2,500, 000, opened with contributions totaling more than $1, 000, 000, it was announced here by Morris Rodman, general chairman. The opening total, he said, was $200, 000 over the amount contributed by the same donors at the same point in the 1965 drive.
Dr. Seymour Alpert, president of the UJA of Greater Washington, called the total reached at the opening of the drive “the first big thrust toward the $2, 500, 000 target. ” He lauded Mr. Rodman and his teams of volunteers for their “energetic participation in this educational and planning effort by the entire Jewish community. “
