The 10 Jewish physicians arrested in a Polish army camp in England have been freed after seven days’ disciplinary detention, without being brought before a military court, it was learned today. The matter is considered closed, although the Polish authorities are investigating.
The doctors were detained because they submitted a collective petition against being forced to do non-medical duties. The petition was contrary to army regulations, which permit only individual requests. They were freed after intervention by Ignacy Schwartzbard, member of the Polish National Council.
