Over 100 Christian clergymen from New York and adjacent cities who attended a matinee performance of the Passion Play at the Hippodrome, invited by Morris Gest to see whether the play is offensive and whether it varies from the New Testament narrative of the crucifixion, declined to make any comment on the controversial aspects of the presentation.
The clergymen were invited by the producer after the criticism it was subjected to in the addresses of Dr. Stephen S. Wise last Sunday and the Rev. John Haynes Holmes in the Community Church, who declared that the presentation was a perversion of the Bible story and offensive to Christians.
Dr. Louis I. Harris, former Health Commissioner of New York City, was installed as chairman of the Board of Directors of the Deborah Jewish Consumptive Relief Society last night at a dinner held at the Hotel Astor, New York.

Goldweber. Supreme Court Commissioner of Jersey City.
Dr. Harris will head the Society’s $1,000,000 campaign to build a new Sanatorium.
