A volunteers’ conference of the United Yeshivah Chest was held last night at the Pennsylvania Hotel under the chairmanship of Judge Max S. Levine of the Court of General Sessions. Judge Levine, who is president of the organization, had called the conference to organize what was termed a guard of honor for the outdoor campaign of the Chest which is seeking to raise $500,000 to meet the annual deficit of the ten Yeshivahs in the metropolitan section.
Among the speakers at the conference which was attended by about 1,000, were William Weintraub, chairman of the executive council of the Chest; Rabbi Israel Rosenberg, honorary president of the Union of Orthodox Rabbis of the United States and Canada; Judge Levine; Irving Bunim, leader of Young Israel; Harry Fromberg and Rabbi I. M. Kowalsky.
