The first pilgrimage to the grave of Sara Aharonson, known as the Palestine Joan of Arc, was undertaken yesterday.
A thousand members of the B’nai Binyamin and the Brith Trumpeldor marched in the procession to the grave located in the Zichron Jacob colony.
The procession paused for a period at the home of Miss Aharonson’s father, who is an old man and ill, and then proceeded to the grave where wreaths were laid and a number of eulogies delivered by the president of the colony and others.
Miss Aharonson was the head of the volunteer pro-British Jewish Intelligence in Palestine during the world war. She committed suicide in 1917 after having been tortured by the Turks.
