Approximately 1,000 Jewish displaced persons living in Bavarian DP camps were declared ineligible today for DP statue by the American military Government in Bavaria because they arrived in the U.S. zone after April 21, 1947. The displaced Jews will be unable to receive I.E.0. assistance as a result of the ruling which also makes them liable to expulsion from the camps.
The recently-arrived Jewish refugees, who fled here from Rumania and Hungary, will be compelled to work in the German economy under the new regulation. It was learned here, however, that the I.R.O. is willing to extend to them the same assistance afforded other displaced persons if the AMG officials will agree.
