Nearly 1,000 men and women are expected to participate in the Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities’ annual Federation Day tomorrow in support of the Federation’s $500,000 campaign, it was declared last night by Harry Zeitz, chairman of the day.
“Hundreds of members of the trade and membership council, (Federation’s fund-raising organization), the women’s division, the junior Federation and other allies of the Brooklyn Federation will give up their duties in business and professional establishments, offices and homes for that day, will postpone appointments—in short, will give their entire effort to the Federation for one day and help raise funds for the twenty-five constituent agencies,” Mr. Zeitz declared.
The workers are to meet for breakfast tomorrow at 8:45 A. M. at the St. George Hotel, when leaders in the Federation and community will speak. The solicitation group will be supplied with names of prospective contributors in all sections of Brooklyn and parts of Manhattan. A report rally will be held tomorrow night at 6:30 o’clock at the Unity Club, Bedford avenue and Dean street, Brooklyn, when results of the day’s work will be recapitulated. Final reports will be made at the same meeting on the women’s division roll call, which began May 21 under the chairmanship of Mrs. Nathan L. Goldstein in an effort to add 10,000 contributors to the Federation cause.
The $500,000 twenty-fifth anniversary campaign which Federation Day is designed to aid is being conducted under the chairmanship of County Judge Algeron I. Nova to raise funds to meet the budgetary necessities of the twenty-five constituent philanthropies.
