A capacity audience of 10,000 persons filled the Chicago Arena last night at a meeting to welcome Lieut.-Col. Itzik Feffer and Prof. Solomon Mikhoels, the Jewish delegation from the Soviet Union. Prominent Jewish leaders addressed the gathering.
Yesterday afternoon Prof. Mikhoels and Lieut.-Col. Feffer visited the Chicago railroad yards where they inspected carloads of clothing that are being shipped to Russia. The delegation was greeted upon their arrival by Mayor Edward J. Kelly at City Hall, who expressed “the gratitude of all America for the heroic feats of the Red Army.”
