At one such public meeting 10,000 Tunision Jews attended to demonstrate their “solidarity with Zionism and their desire to immigrate.” At another meeting, attended by thousands of local Jewish youths, Mr. Rachael explained the need for pioneering immigration and the training of pioneers in technical skills. He also attended a meeting of Jewish communal leaders at which the position of North African Jews was discussed.
