More than $1,000,000 toward a national goal of $6,100,000 was pledged last night at the Joint Defense Appeal’s 20th anniversary dinner in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf-Astoria. The announcement was made by Harry Brandt, JDA campaign chairman.
The dinner inaugurated the Appeal’s 1961 national campaign on behalf of the programs maintained by the American Jewish Committee and the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith. JDA is the sole fund-raising agency for both organizations. More than 1,100 civic and business leaders were present at the dinner.
