A total of $1,000,000 in cash was raised for the United Jewish Appeal today at a luncheon addressed by Eddis Cantor. To date Mr. Cantor has personally raised $2,800,000 in cash in behalf of the current U.J.A. campaign.
Edward M.M. Warburg, chairman of the Greater New York United Jewish Appeal, served as chairman of the luncheon meeting at the Hotel Commodore where more than 400 Jewish leaders presented checks in response to Mr. Cantor’s plea for immediate cash. During the past week Mr. Cantor raised a total of $1,800,000 and has pledged himself to continue his current nationwide tour until be has personally brought in $5,000,000 for the U.J.A. Among the cities he has already visited are Detroit, Reading, Willoes-Barre, Buffalo and Scranton. Other cities on his itinerary are: St. Louis, Chicago, Omaha, Pittsburgh and Los Angeles.
