The 100,00th ration card for this city, formally marking the increase in its Jewish population to that figure, was today handed to 44-year-old Shraga Grosswirth, from Czechoslovakia, by Dr. Dov Joseph, Minister of Food and Supply, in an official ceremony.
The Jewish population of Jerusalem was 70,000 when a census was taken in November, 1948, Dr. Joseph said, adding that the non-Jewish population today was 881. He voiced the hope that the Jewish population here would soon reach 125,000.
Meanwhile, it was learned today that Vice Mayor Reuven Shreihmann will leave for Lake Success soon to represent Jerusalem in United Nations proceedings on the status of the Holy City.
