The 100th DP vessel to arrive in this country with immigrants since the DP Immigration Act of 1948 went into effect docked here today. With the arrival of today’s passengers, the total number of Jewish displaced persons who entered this country since the Act went into operation will be 23,251, the United Service for New Americans stated. All but one of 832 Jewish immigrants who were detained at Ellis Island during the first nine months of this year were granted permission to enter the United States, it was reported today by Isaac L. Asofsky, executive director of the HIAS. The one exception was a Jewish woman who came to this country by plane as a transit passenger.
