A record number of 1050 Israel Bond sales meetings will be held throughout the U.S. and Canada during the closing six weeks of the year, it was announced by Michael Arnon, president of the Israel Bond Organization, at an extraordinary meeting yesterday of the National Campaign Cabinet and Community Chairmen in New York.
The occasion, which was marked as National Israel Bond Cash Day, was addressed by Ambassador Chaim Herzog, Sam Rothberg, general chairman of Israel Bonds Michael Arnon, president and Sidney Cooperman, National Cash Chairman, who discussed Israel’s needs and the Progress of the Israel Bond campaign.
Urging the fullest measure of activity in the sale of Israel Bonds, Rothberg observed that American Jewry’s response to Israel’s economic needs was being watched by members of Congress new considering large-scale military assistance to Israel, More than 120 members of the National Campaign Cabinet of the Israel Bond Organization and Community Chairmen participated in an all day telephone session at special cash headquarters provided by Jack D, Weller, national treasurer.
The national cash effort, which began on Nov. 2, will conclude Dec. 21 at an international dinner of tribute in New York to Rothberg to be addressed by Golda Meir. The occasion, celebrating Rothberg’s 30 years of service to Israel and the Jewish people, will also mark the 25th anniversary of Israel Bonds. Mrs. Meir and Rothberg were among the prime movers in the founding of the Bond campaign 25 years ago.
