More than $1,117,000 was pledged to the Philadelphia Allied Jewish Appeal last night at a dinner here opening the Appeal’s 1953 campaign. This is the largest amount raised at a single affair in the 15-year history of the AJA, which provides funds in the Philadelphia area for the United Jewish Appeal and for other local and national needs. The Principal speaker at the dinner was Philippine Ambassador Carlos P. Romulo.
