Twelve members of the National Socialist party (Fascists) were arrested today by the German police in the Rhineland village of Dolgeshein following an attack on the house of a Jewish merchant, M. Frank. This is but the latest of a series of anti-Semitic attacks that have occurred in the Rhineland since it was evacuated by the Allied troops.
Yesterday at midnight the National Socialists began shooting at Frank’s house, breaking doors and windows. Frank, who is a local Republican leader, was roughly handled while his family hid in the attic until the police arrived and dispersed the attackers. Frank’s family, which has lived in Dolgeshein for 36 years, was compelled, under a police escort, to move to Worms.
