Twelve Jewish students who were arrested in October, 1926, in connection with the national minorities pupils’ demonstration against unfair examination methods, were granted amnesty by an order of the Minister of Justice.

The demonstration and arrests of October, 1926, led to a series of anti-Jewish riots and resulted in the murder of the Jewish student, David Falik, by the Roumanian student, Nikolai Totu, in the Czernowitz courthouse.
