An appeal to President Eisenhower to take the initiative in bringing Israel and her Arab neighbors to the peace table to resolve the present tensions was made at the annual Maccabean Chanukah Dinner of the Jewish National Fund of America held last night at the Hotel Commodore. The dinner was attended by 1,200 guests.
The principal addresses were delivered by Pierre Van Paassen, noted author, Mendel N. Fisher executive director of the Jewish National Fund of America, and Rabbi Mordecai Kirshblum, member of the executive committee of the Jewish Agency. The 1,200 guests pledged their support to Israel and expressed their solidarity with her struggle. The aid of the United States was invoked in keeping the waters of the Suez Canal and of Akaba open to the shipping of all nations, including Israel.
