Twelve hundred persons attended a reception given by the Women’s Association of the American Ort on Tuesday evening at Temple Emanu-El in honor of Lord Dudley Marley, deputy speaker of the British House of Lords, and chairman of the British Parliamentary Ort Committee, who is now in this country in the interests of the Ort campaign for funds.
Howard S. Cullman presided and the speakers, in addition to the guest of honor, included B. C. Vladeck, chairman of the People’s Ort Federation; Dr. Henry Moscowitz, Mrs. Florence Dolowitz, head of the Women’s Association of the Ort, and Boris Aisurowitch, representative of the World Ort Organization, who is now in this country.
A book, containing the signatures of those present at the reception, was presented to Lord Marley by Mrs. Fanny Schluger, in behalf of the organization, of whose membership committee she is the chairman.
Lord Marley declared that America could not realize the serious economic plight of the Jews in Europe, particularly in Poland.
