More than 1,200 Jewish houses and shops were demolished and 20 percent of the Jewish families suffered losses through looting in the riots May 13 in Brzesc, American correspondents were told today by Dr. Bernhard Kahn and David J. Schweitzer, officers of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, returning from a survey in the stricken Polesian city.
Hundreds were left without sufficient clothing, it was declared. Before leaving the city Dr. Kahn helped to re-open 150 Jewish foodshops.
